What actually matters in this category
Navigation (robot)
LiDAR beats gyroscope or camera-only. You want a map in the app and per-room scheduling.
Suction (cordless)
Look for air watts (AW) or kPa. Motor wattage is not suction.
Height clearance (robot)
Measure under your sofa and bed first. A unit that gets stuck is a unit you stop using.
Replaceable battery
Critical for lifespan on cordless models. Sealed batteries shorten the product's life.
Mopping method
Damp cloth, vibrating pad and rotating roller perform very differently. Do not treat them as equal.
Buy if…
✓ Worth buying when
- Hard flooring with no thick rugs → a robot pays for itself in daily convenience
- Thick carpet, stairs or heavy pet hair → a cordless does what a robot cannot
- You want to stop doing a daily chore
- You have a mix — many homes run both, robot daily and cordless for detail
✗ Skip it when
- You already vacuum less than once a fortnight — a robot will not change that
- Your home is mostly stairs
- You expect a robot to replace a full deep clean — it does not
